The following upgrade is available for the Model I Stacker Controls:
The Model I Stacker Controls upgrade replaces the obsolete 5TI programmable logic controllers with Allen-Bradley SLC 500 series platforms and provides a color touchscreen Allen-Bradley PanelView 1000 operator interface at the main console.
The upgrade eliminates the following hardware through integration of controls into the PLC and Panelview:
- 5TI PLCs and input/output modules
- existing front end computer and keyboard
- conveyor speed card
- totalizers and assorted pushbuttons on console
- backstop card
- prewarn card

Operator Interface
The operator can run the machine, enter, edit and view setups for the Panelview. The Panelview also provides maintenance access to setup parameters for the stacker. Diagnostic tools are provided for the operator and maintenance. Additional cabling may be required to the backstop.

Ease of Installation
The Stacker Controls Automation Upgrade can be easily installed by skilled maintenance personnel. [Expect a two day installation with two electrical maintenance personnel. Supervised installation is recommended.]
After the Stacker Operator Console is stripped of the old parts, a new overlay is placed over the old instrument panel. The Panelview 1000 C color touchscreen, along with new operators for E-Stop, Stop, Keyswitch, and Control Power are installed. [Other pushbuttons have been integrated into the touchscreen].
Cabling back to the Stacker enclosures require: power for the Panelview, the old wiring used for the remaining pushbuttons, and a communication cable for the Panelview. Additional cabling may be required to the backstop.

The PLC panel is prewired to field terminals mounted on the panel below the PLC.

The panel is then mounted in the space previously occupied by the 5TI I/O blocks.

AC and DC terminations are easily made from new terminal strips to parallel existing terminal strips in drive cabinet. Most of the existing wire will be reused. Drive speed signals are wired directly to the PLC panel.

The Stacker is then powered up, drive setups are verified, and a system verification test is performed.
