If I switch to a different application or print the screen,  I cannot move within the Expert System when I return.
The Expert System is an active window within the web page.  If you switch to another task on your computer or press the print screen key, the window is deactivated.  To reactivate the window move the mouse over the Expert System window and click with the mouse.  Now the Expert System will respond to the keyboard.  Note that with some web browsers the mouse cursor will appear with the hour glass.  Ignore this when activating the Expert System window.

Can I print screens from the Expert System?
Yes.  Here are two ways to capture and print On-Line Expert System screens on PC's using Windows operating systems:

  1. Maximize your browser so that it is running full-screen.  Go to a section of the Expert System that you want to print, place your mouse pointer anywhere within the gray area outside the On-Line Expert System black window, and press the "Print Scrn" button at the top of your keyboard.  Then open Microsoft Word (or a similar word processing program) and bring up a new document.  In Word, choose File/Page Set-Up/Paper Size and change the orientation to Landscape.  Then click somewhere in the document and select Edit/Paste (or Ctrl+V).  A "screenshot" of the On-Line Expert System screen will be pasted into the document, from which you can save or print it as you would any other Word document.

  2. An alternative method is to download a print screen utility for Windows 95/98/NT/ME/2000, such as PrintKey Pro by Alfred Bolliger.  This utility can be used free of charge for 30 days, after which there is a $19.95 fee to purchase it.   Click here to download an evaluation copy.

After the file is downloaded (839k), click on the file in Windows Explorer to install the program.  After installation, a PrintKey Pro icon that looks like a "hand" will appear on the lower right side of the task manager in the system tray.  To print from the MarquipWardUnited On-Line Expert System, maximize your browser so it is running full screen.  Go to a section of the Expert System that you want to print and press the "Print Scrn" key or double-click on the PrintKey Pro (hand) icon in the system tray.  A window will pop up with different print options.  If your printer is ready, press the "Print" button at the top of the Window.

  • Hint 1: The following option setting may be helpful. Double-click on the PrintKey Pro (hand) icon on the task bar. Select options and select "direct printing."  The program will then be setup so the screen will print as soon as you press the PrintScrn key.

  • Hint 2: After printing the screen, move the mouse over the Expert System and click the mouse.  This will reactivate the Expert System window on the web page so that it can receive commands from the keyboard.

Which screen resolutions are supported?
The minimum screen resolution is 800x600.  Higher resolutions are supported as long as small fonts are used.

The Java Script engine needs to be installed in your web browser.  Reinstall Internet Explorer and install the Java Script components.

I log into the Expert System OK, but when the Expert System appears, the screen is garbled and difficult to read.  Can this be fixed?
We have seen this problem on computers running a Matrox Millennium graphics adapter.  It can be fixed by downloading the latest driver from the Matrox web site.

My system crashes when I access the MarquipWardUnited web site using my Netscape Navigator 3.0.  Why does this happen?
Netscape 3.0 does not support frames.  Upgrade the browser to 3.01 or 4.06.

Each time I access the Expert System using Netscape Navigator the system prompts me to download the plug-in.  I've already installed the plug-in.  How do I run the Expert System?
We have seen this problem on computers that originally had Navigator 3.0 installed and were upgraded to Navigator 4.0 or above.  The default path for the plug-in does not get created automatically, and as a result, the installation process does not complete.

Check if the npican.dll file was created in {c:\program files\netscape\communicator\program\plugins}.  If the answer is no (you do not see the structure exactly as it is mentioned above), please follow the procedure given below.

To fix the problem, do the following:

  • Physically create a dummy location as - {c:\program files\netscape\communicator\program\plugins}.  Note: While doing the self-extract process (running wfplug32.exe) this path is not automatically created.

  • Run the wfplug32.exe.  The npican.dll file will be created in the Plugins subdirectory at the dummy path created.

  • Copy the npican.dll file over to your default Netscape plugin directory.  Ex: The default Netscape plugin directory for Netscape 6 is c:\program files\netscape\netscape 6\plugins.
