Knife Upgrades

The following upgrades are available for the Knife:


Blade Tuning Video
7990525 - Maintenance training video for the installation and tuning of Knife blades.


Brushless Pull/Exit Roll Motors
7993469 - Replacement of existing brush-type pull/exit roll motors with brushless motors. Includes motors with pulleys, drives, and racks. Not available on Model I Knives.


CTM Pattern Recognition
7990507 - Flexible ability to program mark based on customer's graphics.


CTM Skip Mark
7990508 - Option for cutting on every nth mark detected.


Cut-To-Leading-Edge
7993120 - Computer sensors and controls to sense the leading edge of web at order change to make the first cut of the order a good sheet with zero leading edge waste (±6.4mm/±0.25 in accuracy). NOTE: Requires vacuum web guide and available only on DECC controlled Knives.


Cut-To-Mark Cable Track
7991079 - Includes CTM cable track system to guide CTM cable and air hose (included) between inside of Knife sideframes.


Cut-To-Mark Capability
7990505 - Computer sensor and sensor positioning controls to generate a cut-to-mark signal for the MarquipWardUnited Direct Drive Knife. Non-DECC machines may require 2 to 4 MHz front-end computer upgrade.


Cut-To-Mark External Mark Detect Indicator
7990736 - Beacon which can be remotely located to indicate CTM "Mark Detected."


Cut-To-Mark Preprint Analyzer
7990822 - Hand-held analyzer to monitor contrast of preprinted mark to background.


Cut-To-Mark Version I to Version II
7990506 - Update of front-end and backend hardware and software to Cut-To-Mark Version II.


Cylinder Outfeed Web Support Pan
7993129 - Jam pan with spring tension adjustment located between Knife cylinders and Knife exit rolls.


Double Level Automatic Tailtracker
7991666 - wheel inside the knife that is used for cut length control during order change tailout ±0.08 in/2 mm. Available on DECC controlled machines only.

Drive Rack DC Power Status Monitor & Capacitor Bleed Down System
7990482 - Drive rack DC power status monitor and electronic drive rack capacitor bank regeneration/bleeddown system to protect capacitor bleeddown system from a phase loss. (Reference Service Bulletin 129.) NOTE: All levels must be upgraded simultaneously on multilevel knives.

Dry End Order Change Sequencing Controller
7990495 - Order change contact closure sequence initiated by specific number of cuts or by operator-initiated shear chop.


Dual Function CTM Sensor Assembly
7991005 - Includes two CTM sensors to replace existing sensor on CTM system to provide two separate red and green light sources. Upgrade of existing CTM system with one green/red light source sensor will add automatic sensor adjustment feature. Upgrade of existing CTM system with one green light source will increase color spectrum range along with automatic sensor adjustment feature. Includes light/dark and red/green operation selector switches.

Dual Shock Exit Holddown Nip
7993465 - Exit holddown nip assembly, double shock, and spring upgrade. Includes new zero-crush wheels and bearings. Improves holddown control on board at exit roll.

Encoder to Resolver Conversion
7990489 - Replacement of encoders with resolvers. NOTE: All levels must be upgraded simultaneously on multilevel knives.

Exit Roll Control (ERC)
7991924 - board control inside the Knife, minimizes web pulsation, eliminates board shear, exit roll slippage and wear, and improves shingle quality on the stacker during normal run and tailout. NOTE: Available only on L-Knives.

Front End Computer Upgrade
Upgrade from 2.5 MHz to 4 MHz Due to the reduced availability of obsolete 2.5Mhz sub-components for the Knife Front-end Computer, MarquipWardUnited now offers a 4 MHz card upgrade per Service Bulletin 8970265. Contact MarquipWardUnited Sales Department for details and have your KFEC Software part number available. This number is displayed on the start-up menu (MarquipWardUnited Part Number 94XXXXX ).


Ground Fault Detect
7990481 - Ground fault detector includes LED warning of an armature-to-ground short usually a result of excessively worn brushes. Includes audible alarm. Customer may realize a 50% reduction in annual maintenance costs with the addition of the Ground Fault Detector upgrade. For brush style motor machines only. NOTE: All levels must be upgraded simultaneously on multilevel knives.

Heartbeat Monitor
7990486 - Inhibits control power without backend computer heartbeat. Available only on non-DECC Knives.

Horizontal to 3° Steel Base Conversion

Torque Tube Upgrade
